Tractor sales decline by quarter during October

Tractor sales declined by almost a quarter during October 2017, according to figures from the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).

For the third month in a row, UK agricultural tractor registrations (over 50hp) in October were below their level compared to the same month last year.

Indeed, the year-on-year decline was 23.4%, at 846 registrations, less than the number of units registered in October 2016.

However, it is worth noting that a year ago, many dealers were running end-of-series promotions which meant that registrations were a third higher than the year before in both September and October.

Therefore, the AEA said a decline was to be expected and another is possible for the current month.

Nevertheless, total registrations for the year to date have increased 4.4% compared to the equivalent period in 2016 and are the highest since 2014.
