MEAT INSPECTION PROBLEMS.
A new government report in Turkey, suggests that over 25 pc of all animals slaughtered are not regulated at slaughter and the meat not inspected..This would amount to 400,000 tons annually.
There are an estimated 13 million cattle in the country and 31.5 million sheep and goats.
There was no meat inspection for domestic meat in England, until 1964 and Ireland until 1976.
The abattoir owners had the final say as to what was used and what was not, strangely there were very few cases of E-coli and no such thing as meat recalls in those days.
