Turnover increases by 15% at Shrewsbury plant and machinery auctions
Auctioneers Halls have reported a 15 per cent increase in turnover at the popular bi-monthly Shrewsbury Plant and Machinery Sale this year despite the recession in the farming industry.
Nick Hyne, manager of Shrewsbury Auction Centre, said he was delighted with the positive figures and thanked buyers and sellers for their continued support.
“The 15 per cent turnover increase is on top of the similar rise last year, which shows that the auction is becoming more attractive to buyers and sellers and reaching a wider audience,” he added. “Bearing in mind the recession that has hit the farming trade during 2015, the result is very pleasing.
“It is now one of the biggest plant and machinery auctions in the West Midlands and Welsh border region. One of the factors that has contributed to this year’s turnover increase is the number of farm dispersal sales that we have included in the auctions.
“A lot of buyers like genuine, straight off the farm machinery which sells very well for a premium price. We have been delighted to welcome several new buyers during the year and they have been surprised by the volume and quality of plant and machinery on offer.
“We are certainly looking to expand all sections of the auction in 2016, especially the plant machinery to meet demand from the construction industry.”
