UFU hits out at meat plants

Ulster Farmers"e; Union Deputy President Harry Sinclair has hit out at local meat plants for showing preferential treatment to cattle sourced from the Republic of Ireland. The UFU says meat plants are offering higher prices to producers South of the border.

Harry Sinclair (pictured below) told Farming Life that local farmers have supplied a reliable flow of cattle to meat processers throughout Northern Ireland for decades.

"It is hard to understand why the plants are treating local farmers in this way," he added.
