CUSTOMS CHECKING MEAT IMPORTS.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, has sent out a directive to the State Customs Service, to run spot checks on all meat importers.

The government has grave concerns, that illegally imported meat, normally channeled through Georgia, may now be shipped through the Ukraine.

Since the war in Georgia began, the government has also instructed the Ministry of Agrarian Policy ,to run random checks for illegal meat entering the country.

Georgia has been used as a shipping route for beef and poultry, that has been illegally being sent into Macedonia for the European Union and to Russia outside of the quota system..

The European Union claim that, VAT fraud costs them 70 billion euros per year.
