UN report warns farming techniques must change
A United Nations (UN) report on farming practices has warned that production techniques must change to combat the global increase in food prices.
Australia is one of only four countries that did not endorse the study.
As higher food prices threaten to plunge millions of people into poverty, the UN sponsored report says 'business as usual' is no longer an option.
The study calls for more natural and ecological farming techniques to be used and a reduction in the distance between production and the consumer.
