United Kingdom-Cash windfall for British farmers.
UNITED KINGDOM.
SUBSIDY BOOST FOR BRITISH FARMERS.
"Its an ill wind that blows no good", while the cost of imported equipment goes up for farmers because of the weak pound, new export markets will open and additional help in subsidies will be available for Brussels.
There could be as much as one billion pounds in additional money from the European Union, to counteract the drop in the value of the pound.
The Department of Environment and Rural Affairs, have in fact confirmed that the additional money has been secured from Brussels.
Farmers have until the summer to decide if they want their subsidies paid in euros or in pounds sterling
The strong pound has not been good for farmers, along with the high cost of feed and fuel. Many pig and poultry farmers have already fallen by the wayside in the last year.
