ON TUESDAY, February 24 Harrison and Hetherington, Lockerbie held their fortnightly sale of store cattle, 344 head of cattle were sold.

A tremendous show of predominantly younger cattle sold very well with a top price of £955 for a Limousin heifer from M/s JM Wharton of Snade, Dunsmore.

Bullocks sold to £900 (x2) from Mr J Kinstrey of Shieldburn. Top price per kilo was for Simmental bullocks from M/s Howatson of Hallmeadow which sold at 216.5p per kilo with heifers selling to 211.5p per kilo for a Limousin cross from M/s CJ Porteous of Penlow. The best bred bullocks and heifers regularly selling above £2 per kilo.
