UNITED KINGDOM-ABATTOIRS COMPLAIN ABOUT NEW GOVERNMENT COSTS.

Food Standards Agency Wales is seeking a 9% hike in meat inspection charges at Welsh abattoirs.

It follows consultation with the industry over new meat controls to come into force on June 29.

Its report proposes several options but at best charges would still rise 4%. NFU Cymru said the rises would be crippling in the current economic climate.
