A FARMERS TALE.

In the village of Greatham in Hampshire, where William the Conqueror was once the lord of the manor, a former traveling man bought a field to put on a few horses and sheep.

When he looked at the deeds of his newly acquired field, he realized that he also owned a strip of land that ran beside a row of cottages, that had been built 40 years ago and a new road had been built parallel to a track in the field.

This meant that the strip of land in front of the cottages, between the road and the front of the house was in fact his. Armed with this knowledge his solicitors wrote to the current tenants in the cottages offering to sell them the strip of land.

Farmer O’shea was ridiculed by the local parish council, who refused to negotiate with him, in anger he withdrew the offer to sell. The farmer instead contacted Whites Car Park Solutions, 40 miles away in Southampton.

In the early hours of the following Sunday morning, 3 am to be precise, the car park company clamped the wheels of all the cars parked in front of their owners homes, demanding 150 pounds per car, to release them.

The farmer is quite entitled by law to do this on a daily basis, as the cars are in fact parked on his property, albeit the gardens of the cottage dwellers.

The matter will no doubt be resolved quite quickly now.
