MEAT INDUSTRY JOB LOSSES.

Tulip Foods announced the closure of its plant in the North West of England with the loss of 400 jobs, now the company is to close its bacon plant in Thetford Norfolk with the loss of a further 75 jobs.

John Hughes the managing director of the Cambridge plant said that that the closing of the abattoir, will not affect the other processing activities at the plant.

Meanwhile the turkey king, Bernard Mathews is expecting to have to cut up to 130 jobs from his processing plant in Norfolk.

The Mathews cuts will include 35 salaried staff.


The recession is biting into the meat industry with great gusto according to traders
