A company has taken new steps to fulfil conditions so it can build an abattoir in Eye Business Park.

Brome-based C&K Meats has submitted a planning application for a cold store, loading dock, and a pump or heater building to Mid Suffolk District Council.

The application follows the successful attempt by the C&LK Meats to build an abattoir at the site, subject to planning conditions.

The success came after appeals in 2003 and 2005 to build the plant in Yaxley failed.

A planning decision is yet to be made about the latest application, which was submitted last week.

A council spokesman said the current application is separate from any conditions outstanding before an abattoir can be built, but that should the buildings go ahead, an abattoir on the site would be better enabled.
