The recent sale of the properties that are in four states of Australia, are considered by many in Europe as the "Sale of the Century", with 90% being purchased for under 190 million sterling or AU$425 million.

Kerry Packers dream, was to slaughter his own cattle and produce his own meat, however despite expert meat trade advisers including Roger Fletcher and Bill Hayes in Argentina, he could not cope with the unions, eventually walking away from the meat industry.

Guy Hands the new owner, is the head of Terra Firma, a private equity firm based in London, that was established 15 years ago with an impressive pedigree, of investing more than eleven billion euros over the last fifteen years. Terra Firma is the Latin for ³Firm Ground².

The company has always specialized in European acquisitions, however having paid over fifteen million pounds in English taxes in 2007, rumors began to circulate in March of last year, that the company was looking further away for long term investments.

With this amount of cattle that are suitable for the beef industry or the live shipping trade, there is going to be no shortage of suitors wooing the company for cattle.
