United Kingdom-Sheep ear tags.

UNITED KINGDOM

THE EAR TAG PROBLEM

While farmers in Australia and New Zealand are quietly tagging their sheep with new electronic ear tags, into over 120 million sheep. This being done in order to comply with the latest government regulations, put in place by the European Union.

Farmers from Ulster, Wales and Scotland are complaining about the work that is required in tagging 33 million sheep in the UK, under rules put in place by their very own European Union.

The very reason for the recent EU ban on Brazilian Beef, were the allegations, that the tagging was not satisfactory in cattle on the farms in Brazil.

Sheep are just as prone to foot and mouth as cattle and the outbreaks of foot and mouth in England during 1958, 1963, 1967 and 2001 were all started in flocks of sheep and not cattle.

When lambs are being docked and tailed or castrated, its no big deal to slip on an ear tag.
