United Kingdom-The Butcher and the missing pies.

HUNGRY thieves made an unusual raid on a Litcham butcher after they forced their way through a window and stole four beef and onion pies.

The intruders removed a glass pane measuring just one foot by one foot before entering The Village Butcher, in Church Street, and searching the premises for money.

But owner Michael Fuller told the Lynn News his till was empty, and when he arrived at work the following morning, he found a missing glass panel and some scattered paperwork before noticing his pies had been taken.

He said: "I just smiled. I am quite laid back about it really.

"I would not have minded, but they did not leave any money.

"We were very lucky, as they could have trashed the place and while we are in the middle of the village, it is very quiet at night.

"What is serious about this is if you see the glass they came through. They were obviously using a young child. There is no adult I know who could get through that space."

Mr Fuller said the intruder searched some cupboards to the rear of the store before taking the delicious treats, which cost £1.19 each.

The glass pane had been carefully removed with a chisel and it took just minutes to repair the damage to the window.

Police are investigating the burglary, which happened between 5pm on Friday, February 27, and 7.25am the following morning.
