US$20 BILLION A YEAR WASTED IN MEAT THROWN OUT.
A report by researchers and handed to John Ruddock, the environment minister, showed that in Great Britain, the average household throws out $830 in food each year and a family with children $1200.
Every day 1.2 million sausages,1 million slices of ham,5,500 whole chickens and 440,000 ready meals are thrown away, 18% of the total food thrown away is meat or chicken.
