United States-Cargill profits $2.6 billion in six months.

GOOD PROFITS FOR CARGILL.
Cargill reported on Tuesday $1.19 billion in profits for the second quarter of 200 ending 30 November.
In the first six months of the financial year, the companies profits are $2.68 billion, this come in slightly below the profits for 2007.
Greg Page the CEO, said "Cargill performed solidly in a period like no other, the global financial system was under significant stress, energy and commodity prices fell sharply, and recessionary risks took a hold in developed economies in a worsening global economic environment. Because Cargill focus on market fundamentals and risk management we were able to work our way through safely in extremely volatile conditions".
CARGILL china received the US Secretary of State’s 2008 Award for Corporate Excellence, in recognition of its public and private partnership efforts in China, to prevent the spread of disease, foster the environment, contribute to disaster relief, implement food safety training programs and demonstrate volunteerism.
Page said Cargill is preparing for the year ahead by being even more mindful of costs and expenditures, and the risks it chooses to take.
