PRE DETERMINED SEX OF CALVES NOW IN PRODUCTION.

Perhaps the biggest breakthrough in the dairy industry, since artificial insemination 60 years ago, is the pre-determined sex of calves.

The Accelerated Genetics company, is now selling straws of semen, with the sex of the calf guaranteed.

This means dairy farmers no longer have so sell bull calves at give away prices, rather they can breed only heifer calves, as followers and springer heifers which will of course double milk production if they wish.

Farmers in Australia, are already making use of the service and getting a guaranteed $250 heifer calf, as opposed to a $30 bull calf.
