UNITED STATES-MEAT PRICE JUMP.

Prices in the US imported beef market improved this week in both US$ and A$ terms, with imported 90CL cow beef jumping 4US¢/lb to 117.5US¢/lb CIF while the lower A$ help to boost prices in A$ terms by 17.4A¢/kg to 362.9A¢/kg FAS.

With talk of higher imported supplies in the US market over the past couple of weeks, Australian export statistics for February showed beef exports to the US reached 27,657 tonnes swt, an increase of 72% on February 2008 and a rise of 76% on January.
