UNITED STATES-HIDES AND SKIN EXPORTS.

Hides and Skins: Net sales of 365,200 pieces were down 40 percent from the previous week and 45 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 335,200 pieces were primarily for Taiwan (115,100 pieces), South Korea (88,700 pieces), Hong Kong (43,500 pieces), Vietnam (24,200 pieces), and China (21,400 pieces). Decreases were reported for Mexico (3,900 pieces) and Canada (1,300 pieces). Exports of 525,600 pieces were down 19 percent from the previous week and 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 514,600 pieces were primarily to China (247,200 pieces), South Korea (126,900 pieces), Taiwan (45,800 pieces), Thailand (27,000 pieces), Hong Kong (19,200 pieces), and Mexico (14,500 pieces).

Net sales of 60,100 wet blues were down 8 percent from the previous week and 66 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (17,400 unsplit and 4,000 grain splits), Mexico (15,900 grain splits and 100 unsplit), Taiwan (11,400 unsplit), and Vietnam (10,800 unsplit). Exports of 121,200 hides were up 12 percent from the previous week and 7 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (37,800 unsplit and 11,400 grain splits), Mexico (24,900 grain splits and 2,100 unsplit), Italy (20,100 unsplit), and Vietnam (8,800 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,167,900 pounds--a marketing-year high--resulted as increases for Vietnam (788,100 pounds), Mexico (250,000 pounds), South Korea (135,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (700 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for China (5,900 pounds). Exports of 396,900 pounds were up noticeably from the previous week and 7 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (264,700 pounds), Vietnam (88,100 pounds), and China (44,100 pounds).


Beef: Net sales of 8,700 MT were primarily for Japan (3,900 MT), Mexico (2,900 MT), Canada (1,100 MT), and Taiwan (500 MT). Exports of 8,700 MT were mainly to Mexico (3,200 MT), Canada (1,500 MT), Japan (1,200 MT), and Vietnam (1,200 MT).
