United States-JBS-Swift worker wins $1 million in lottery.
BRAZIL-JBS-SWIFT WORKER WINS A MILLION DOLLARS.
A man working for JBS-Swift & Co. in Marshalltown, Iowa, won a $1 million jackpot after turning in his winning Powerball ticket to the state’s lottery officials earlier this week, according to the Times-Republican.
Ricky Rushton, a 48-year-old Marshalltown resident who works the night shift at the local facility’s cafeteria, had five of the six numbers right on Saturday’s drawing. He netted $700,000 after federal and state taxes.
"It still hasn’t hit me yet," Rushton told the local newspaper.
Rushton said he plans to use the windfall to pay off debts, buy a home, buy a car and put the rest into retirement. He has a wife and two children.
The odds were stacked against Rushton — landing five of the six Powerball numbers was roughly a one-in-five million shot — but he said "persistence" helped him overcome them. He said he plays three tickets with each drawing.
