UNITED STATES-NEW CEO FOR RESTAURANT CHAIN.

Dallas-based Bennigan’s Franchising Co. on Thursday named David Goronkin as president and chief executive officer, saying the 46-year-old restaurant industry veteran is charged with revitalizing the casual dining chain.

"Bennigan’s is a vintage American brand and the upside potential is tremendous," Goronkin said in a statement. "I’m very excited for the opportunity to work with our franchise partners to enhance Bennigan’s and build a strong future for our business."

Goronkin replaces interim CEO Vince Runco, who will continue working with the company during a transition period. Runco is credited with opening several new Bennigan’s restaurants domestically and abroad.

Goronkin successfully has steered several organizations through changes and brand repositioning efforts, most recently serving as CEO of Redstone American Grill Inc. Among other companies at which he has held executive positions are Famous Dave’s of America, HomeTown Buffet and Old Country Buffet.

Bennigan’s has more than 100 restaurants throughout the United States and several other countries.
