UNITED STATES-SALES OF FARM EQUIPMENT.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers released its sales report for March 2008 showing slower sales for farm equipment compared to March 2007 data and year-to-date numbers.

Two-wheel-drive tractor sales were down 21.5% compared to March 2007 and down 20.6% year-to-date. Four-wheel-drive tractor sales were down 17.5% compared to March 2007 and down 4.6% year-to-date.

However, self-propelled combine sales were up 32.7% compared to March 2007 and up 28.1% year-to-date.

Unit retail sales followed the seasonal upward trend for the month of March, but sales numbers are lower than the previous three years and the five-year average.
