UNITED STATES- STOLEN CATTLE.
Beatrice police have arrested a 51-year-old man Nebraska man suspected of possessing cattle stolen in Kansas. Thomas Baum, of Tecumseh, was arrested Monday at the Beatrice 77 Livestock Sales, which is north of Beatrice on U.S. Highway 77. Lt. Mike Oliver says Baum faces one count of possession of stolen property, a felony charge that carries a possible sentence of 20 years in prison. Oliver said Tuesday the nine Black Angus cows and six calves were stolen from an operation near Alma in northeast Kansas. He says the owners called several sale barns and described the cattle, which were discovered at the Beatrice barn. Oliver would not say how Baum came to be in possession of the cattle. Baum was still in custody.
