UNITED STATES-TURKEY PLANT STARTS AGAIN.
Norbest turkey producer Moroni Feed Co. has resumed full production nearly four months after suspending operations due to high grain prices.
"Our growers and employees are excited to be back in production," Moroni President Kent Barton said in a statement. "While grain prices have corrected somewhat, we remain concerned about the amount of corn that is channeled into ethanol production under government mandates and subsidy programs."
Moroni, Utah-based Moroni Feed Co. is a member of Norbest, a federated marketing cooperative headquartered in West Liberty, Iowa, that deals with turkeys and value-added turkey products. Moroni produces products under the Norbest brand and processes 5 million turkeys per year.
