United States-Two new appointments at USDA.

UNITED STATES-TWO MORE USDA APPOINTMENTS.

President Obama has nominated two more individuals to serve in the Department of Agriculture as Under Secretaries. The nominees are: Kevin Concannon to be Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services; and Rajiv Shah to be Under Secretary for Research, Education, and Economics.

Kevin Concannon, has been serving as Director of Iowa’s Department of Human Services. Previously, he served as Commissioner of Maine’s Department of Human Services and Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services. Concannon would become Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services at USDA.

Rajiv Shah is the Director of Agricultural Development in the Global Development Program for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation where he manages the Foundation’s Agricultural Development program – including grant-making portfolios in science and technology, farmer productivity, market access, and policy and statistics – with the goal of helping the world’s poor lead healthy and productive lives. Shah would become Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics.
