A special vintage tractor and machinery section proved popular at auctioneers Halls’ October collective agricultural and horticultural machinery auction at The Gallops, Stanklyn Lane, Stone, near Kidderminster on Friday.

A large crowd gathered despite the wet weather to see more than 2,000 lots go under the hammer, including 17 vintage tractors and 94 lots of vintage implements, machinery and effects.

A wide variety of vintage David Brown tractors were on offer, including 1212, 1412, 990, 880 and 30D models. The David Brown 1412, complete with hedge cutter, achieved £3,000. Other highlights included a Ferguson T20 Tractor, which achieved £2,300 and three Nuffield Universal Four tractors, which sold up to £1,800.

Vintage spares also saw strong demand, with a front bonnet for a Fordson Major achieving £500. There was a large selection of vintage implements, including a Howard Selectatilth rotavator which realised £900.

Alongside the vintage lots there were the usual entries of tractors, farm and construction vehicles, farm machinery, implements and effects. Notable lots included the Kubota mini digger at £5,150 and a Manitou loader at £3,400.

Trailers ranged from motorbike and horse examples to caravans, with an Ifor Williams flatbed achieving the section’s highest price at £1,000.

Both the small tools and timber and building materials section saw enthusiastic bidding throughout.
