When ‘more’ means ‘less’ - more bales but less to recycle

SilotitePRO, an innovative silage stretch film developed specifically for combi-machines, is being launched at the international Agritechnica exhibition in Hannover. This exciting new bale wrapping film combines an impressive 40% extra length (2100m as opposed to 1500m) with a lower film thickness whilst maintaining the essential characteristics of traditional bale wrap such as oxygen permeability, high strength and tear resistance.

SilotitePRO brings significant cost advantages to farmers and contractors thanks to the additional number of bales it is possible to wrap with the extra reel length. As well as producing more bales, this means that reels are changed less frequently which saves machinery operators time and effort.

Advances in film technology and raw materials have enabled SilotitePRO to be developed as a thinner gauge film, which nonetheless can provide the same high performance and film strength. The advantage of using a thinner but stronger film is obvious when it comes to recycling used silage stretch film. SilotitePRO offers a 40% reduction in the amount of film used by weight which means there is correspondingly less film to dispose of, making it a better choice environmentally.

SilotitePRO can be used on existing combi-machines and no modifications are required for its use. The product has been the subject of extensive field trials across Europe and at leading grassland research institutions.

Bart Geeraert, Commercial Director Silage, bpi.formipac said: "We are delighted to be launching SilotitePRO at Agritechnica. SilotitePRO is the culmination of a rigorous development programme which has seen the product tested and used in varying conditions across a number of countries." He continued: "We are especially pleased that SilotitePRO can help farmers and agricultural contractors to meet their environmental commitments."
