Winner announced for Best Burger Challenge

Phil Davies Quality Butchers Limited has been named as England’s best burger maker in an EBLEX competition.

Having triumphed in the Independent category with ’The Mighty Meat Burger’, Phil Davies Quality Butchers, from Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, beat off 13 rivals to be crowned overall champion.

Made from Quality Standard matured beef rump and using home grown herbs, the burger was a real hit with the judges who had no hesitation in awarding it the title of ’England’s Best Burger 2010’.

Following the announcement at the Meat Management Awards in London, shop owner Phil Davies said: "To be announced as the overall winner of the competition means the world to us, particularly as we’re a small business striving to simply sell good quality meats and other products.

"The recipe was only developed 12 months ago so it’s still a relatively new product, but it already sells really well which I put down to the quality of the ingredients and the care we take when making it."
