Harrison and Hetherington who work with most of the UK’s breed societies were absolutely delighted to see world records achieved at their most recent Autumn Bull Sale.

On behalf of the Limousin Cattle Society world records were achieved in Saturday’s sale for both an individual Limousin Bull and an overall bull sale average. Trueman Jagger from Henry Savage & Sons of Altnamackin, Newry in Co. Down, sold for 140,000gns (£147,000).

This was a tremendous sale for both Harrison & Hetherington, The Limousin Cattle Society, Henry Savage & Sons and of course auctioneers James Little and Grant Anderson.

James opened the bidding at 50,000gns for Trueman Jagger and speaking earlier today he said:

“This Limousin sale has regularly proven to be one of the major autumn sales of the year, and it has once again demonstrated that there is a very keen interest in the Limousin breed. There was a tremendous show of animals; however this bull from Northern Ireland really did stand out from amongst the crowd. There was a lot of talk before Trueman Jagger came into the ring so it was evident that there would be considerable interest. Bidding started at 50,000gns and from then on interest was intense with a number of people extremely keen to buy.”

The world record was indeed the highlight of the Society’s autumn sale, which also saw 85 bulls sell to an extraordinary average of £8709.

On Friday at the pre-sale show Trueman Jagger stood out from the crowd, being placed as the Overall Supreme Champion & Intermediate Champion by the judge and was being widely described as one of the best Limousin bulls ever seen at a British Limousin Cattle Society Sale.

The bull was purchased by a five way syndicate of Limousin breeders which comprised of Michael & Melanie Alford, Foxhillfarm herd at Cullompton Devon; Paul Dawes, Dinmore herd at Hereford; Messrs Jenkinson, Whinfellpark herd at Penrith; Gareth Lee, Calogale herd in Carmarthenshire;and Kedzlie Farm Ltd, Swalesmoor herd at Lauderdale.

Commenting further, James said: “Henry Savage & Sons have supported Harrison and Hetherington selling at Carlisle for many years, it really was an honour and a personal career highlight for me to see this record achieved. This was a tremendous overall sale and we recorded a record average for any breed ever sold, which shows the level of interest in this sale from throughout the UK and Ireland. We are delighted to be the Limousin Centre in the UK, experiencing such sensational highlights.”
