Confirmed case of potato blight

POTATO blight has been confirmed in south Lincolnshire, placing the region's potato crops in immediate danger of attack from the disease.

The blight infection was identified by a British Potato Council `blight scout' on a potato dump close to Holbeach. Potato growers in the surrounding area should intensify their crop monitoring and blight control programmes, warn the BPC.

For regular potato blight updates potato growers can visit the BPC's website www.potato.org.uk/blight
