Muller adds 2p per litre to October milk price

Dairy processor Müller will increase its farm gate milk price by 2p per litre from October, taking the rate for qualifying suppliers to 37p per litre.

The new price will take effect from 1 October 2026 and applies to dairy farmers who meet the conditions of the Müller Advantage programme.

Müller Advantage covers areas including supply chain collaboration, herd health and measures aimed at reducing environmental impact.

Richard Collins, Agriculture Director at Müller Milk & Ingredients, said: "Following ongoing assessment of market conditions, we are pleased to increase our farm gate milk price again for October."

He added: "Maintaining a competitive milk price for our supplying farmers remains a priority, and we will continue to monitor supply and demand closely."

The increase comes as UK milk supplies have tightened, with lower deliveries adding some support to the domestic dairy market.

However, strong global milk production and product stocks remain an important influence on the direction of farmgate prices, potentially limiting further upward movement.

Müller’s announcement comes alongside a larger increase from Freshways, which is raising its standard milk price by 6p per litre from 1 October.

The change will take Freshways’ standard price to 38ppl for supplying farmers, compared with Müller’s 37ppl rate for producers meeting the Müller Advantage conditions.
