New season price announced for sugar beet feed
Trident has launched its 2006/07 season prices for sugar beet feeds.
For 29-tonne bulk-tipped loads of sugar beet pellets delivered direct to farms in central England, Trident says that the cost will be around £105 per tonne, reflecting significant increases in production costs as well as increases in the cost of haulage. For farms that are located further from the site of manufacture, prices will vary according to local haulage costs.
This year's beet crop is expected to be significantly less than 500,000 tonnes, down from 560,000 tonnes last year and 590,000 tonnes in 2004. The reduction reflects the temporary quota cuts imposed throughout the EU and the impact of the dry weather conditions across the major beet growing areas.
Further details of the prices quoted can be obtained from local merchants.
