Oilseed Rape sacks kick the bucket
Growers can look forward to improved delivery quality of oilseed rape after seed breeder Nickerson announced they are replacing paper sacks with plastic buckets for their Emerson and Mallory varieties.
Les Daubney, Nickerson oilseeds and pulse product manager, says the new buckets are designed to minimise damage to the seed during transportation. "The traditional paper sacks are put under a lot of strain and can often split or become wet during delivery meaning that valuable seed is spoiled.
"These plastic tubs, which contain sufficient seeds for three hectares, are weatherproof and carrier-proof, ensuring quality stays, whether it's being transported from breeder to farmer or from farmer to field."
