Police seeking 'unscrupulous' poachers who destroyed crop of wheat

Police are on the lookout for a group of "unscrupulous" poachers who destroyed a crop of growing wheat in a field near Basingstoke.

Between 4pm on Thursday November 10th and 9am on Saturday November 12th 2016, criminal damage was caused to a growing crop of wheat at a field at Farleigh Wallop.

Hampshire Police said they are aware that a vehicle has been driven all across the wheat field, they suspect that those involved were poaching by way of looking for hares, game or deer. "This is yet again a further example of wanton criminal damage being caused by 'unscrupulous' people looking to kill or injure wildlife," said Andrew Reid, a local Constable.

"Security in this area has been stepped up but I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of Foxall Cottages at Farleigh Wallop between these times and may have seen any suspicious vehicles or movement within the fields."
