Potato Event presents new ideas for East Anglian growers
East Anglian potato growers have a valuable chance to get a grip on rapidly escalating input costs, with an exciting presentation of the latest ideas and innovations in potato agronomy at the East Anglian Potato Event, taking place on 4 September at Stratton Streles Estates, Colby near Aylsham.
The Potato Council event, sponsored by Greenvale AP, Frontier Agriculture and Syngenta Crop Protection, will address all aspects of potato production and provide practical solutions to tackle rising costs, including new developments in store management to reduce energy use and innovations to make more effective use of fertiliser inputs.
A series of presentations will see leading industry experts on hand to give guidance on fighting the changing UK blight populations, and ideas to control the damaging effects of Black Dot. New precision spraying techniques and nozzle developments will ensure growers can get the best possible results, to produce higher yields of better quality potatoes.
After a highly successful inaugural event in 2007, this year's East Anglian Potato Event will include an even wider range of exhibitors, offering innovative new equipment, agronomy, research and advice for growers.
David Want of the Potato Council said: "There are incredibly exciting opportunities for East Anglian potato growers to exploit the demand for locally sourced potatoes. But to do so profitably growers will need to achieve high yields and essential quality, whilst controlling rising costs. The East Anglian Potato Event is a crucial opportunity to find out about the tools and techniques that can help them to achieve it."
The East Anglian Potato Event is open from 10.00am – 4.00pm, with tours of the event and presentations running through the day.
