Potato industry event to attract wider audience
Potato growers from across the south-east of England are expected to attend a technical potato event at Birchington in Kent on June 24 now it has expanded its remit from Kentish growers to those from across the region.
Following the success of last year’s Kent Potato Day, the Potato Council and St Nicholas Court Farms are bringing potato specialists, growers and purchasers together at Quex Park Estate, Birchington.
On the menu for the practical day will be indoor and field discussions on combating slug damage, the use of compost in the growing process, minimising disease and utisilation of scare water resources.
The farm-based day, held in association with Potato Review, the NFU and the Environment Agency, will give growers the opportunity to interact with experts on important topics such as the implications of the new PCN Directive.
