Quell Flo is approved for potatoes
With the continuing global problems in the production and supply of Dithane 945 and Dithane NT and other blight fungicides, Interfarm UK Ltd are offering UK potato growers an alternative solution in the form of Quell Flo. Quell Flo is a suspension concentrate of mancozeb and is registered for the same crop range as Dithane products.
"Widely used on cereals and oilseed rape, Quell Flo is highly suitable for use on potatoes for the control of potato blight. At a dose rate of 3.3 l/ha, Quell Flo delivers 1501 gms a.i/ha of mancozeb, equivalent to 2 kg/ha of Dithane NT. Water rates should be the same to give good even coverage of the crop and Quell Flo is just as rainfast as Dithane. It can be applied at 7 days intervals, with no maximum spray numbers, and has a range of useful tank mixes, making it particularly flexible in a programme. As a liquid formulation, it is easily introduced into the spray hopper and disperses well in the spray tank, with no problems of dust," explains Dr. David Stormonth, Technical Manager for Interfarm UK Ltd.
Interfarm UK is in the process of organising a number of SOLAs for Quell Flo on crops such as onions, garlic, poppies for pharmaceuticals and red beet, in line with Dithane SOLAs.
Quell Flo contains 455g/L mancozeb formulated as a suspension concentrate and packed in a 10 litre container to treat 3 hectares of potatoes. It is approved for use in potatoes, winter and spring wheat and winter oilseed rape. In potatoes it is recommended at a dose rate of 3.3 l/ha and has a Harvest Interval of 7 days. It has no LERAP.
