Seed event explores new opportunities
A period of opportunity will be spelled out by the seed potato industry at the British Potato Council's Seed Industry Event, which takes place on 2-3 November 2006 at Crieff Hydro, Crieff, near Perth in Scotland.
The event will explore the opportunities for those in the potato seed industry and examine exactly what the industry needs to do to take full advantage of them.
"These are exciting times for anyone involved in the breeding, growing, handling, exporting or retailing of GB seed potatoes," comments BPC seed and export manager Iain Dykes. "This promises to be a really valuable event, indeed many past delegates and companies have already committed to attend."
The two-day event starts at lunchtime on Thursday, 2 November, with a keynote conference – experts will set out the opportunities and threats for the seed industry, while a debate, highlighting merchant's and grower's views, will be a chance for the audience to get involved and have their say.
Morning workshops on the Friday, 3 November, will focus on supplying what the customer needs, staying competitive, keeping quarantine diseases out and making the most of the latest technology. The traditional industry dinner on the Thursday night offers the chance to relax or to make and renew important contacts.
