The UK's first 'farm drive thru' which sells fresh, local produce available to weary travellers on-the-go is now officially open.

Opened on Rhug Estate, situated near Corwen, Denbighshire, north Wales, the drive thru is a UK first and shows an increasingly innovative industry.

The farm sells organic meat including beef, lamb, chickens, turkeys, geese, wild bison, and Japanese Sika deer.

The new drive thru is positioned at the entrance to the farm. Wales' Rural Affairs Minister, Lesley Griffiths, officially opened the drive thru, which broke new ground in August 2018.

Lord Newborough, owner of Rhug Estate, said not everybody has time to stop and enjoy food in this 'busy world we live in'.

“The new drive thru complements the facilities that we already have and provides an easy, quick, solution for those who want to get back on their journey without delay,” he said.

“Thank you to the locals and holiday makers who have visited us already and have made us a regular stop off on their journeys.”

Farming businesses across the UK are increasingly using new and innovative diversification projects.

In March, a Yorkshire farmer announced that his mobile milk vending machine made from a converted horse box is now in operation in the Yorkshire Dales.

Meanwhile, a Gloucestershire farm which sells 'sausage rolls of exceeding enormity' has secured a £10,000 investment following a competition.
